Athletics Zones!

Bonjour Bloggers! A few days ago I got into zones for Athletics! I got in for Discus! I’m so happy because last year I wasn’t able to go because I had something on that day! We kept practicing to make sure we will win! Last year I was one of the best throwers at discus! So I am really nervous to see if I will win or not!

I have some other friends that are going in for long jump, sprints and shot put! I hope they get placed in Athletics! Because I know my cousin jumps really far in long jump and I know he tries really hard! I really hope that I get top three in discus because I try really hard at it! My mum is coming to watch me, she is also one of the parent transport!

Place it is at is Ngā Puna Wai! I can’t wait for the day! It is on November 13th 2024!

Matatihi Show!

Kia ora bloggers!

Today I’m going to be talking about the show we got to see today at our school! These three amazing people came to our school to do a show! It was about a little girl named Maya that was 12. She had said she went to all these places outside of her village! Until, the two other people were screaming about a man eating bird! She wanted to know all about the bird, so she went on a mission to find the man eating bird. She went out into this scary cave!  She got caught by her naan!

She ran out of the cave till the very next day. Next day she tried to learn about the man eating bird! But her mum and auntie were not telling her anything! So she went back into the cave and found a eel, she asked the eel if it could show her to the bird, minutes later she found the bird and went to go fight it! But when she went to, the bird got scared and started crying!

After talking to the bird, they became friends and we found out that the bird doesn’t eat humans, in fact it only eats veges! The bird made an agreement with Maya. Because the bird could not fly Maya said she would teach the bird to fly, after lots of tries the bird got to the top of a mountain and it took a couple of tries for the bird to jump off the cliff, but! It flew! It was so cool to see the bird fly. Maya got home and tried telling her family but they didn’t Believe her, but her naan did, because her naan has meet the bird too! The naan was trying to find the bird again all along! Because the naan was carrying one of the birds feathers the whole time! The bird found Maya and gave her a feather!

The show was so amazing and they are so creative! I hope we get to watch more of their shows!

Bye- Catalina

Fire Fighter Visit!

This afternoon a group of fire fighter came to visit our school! AT 1:55 pm room 10, 9 and 8 walked over to the front of the office where there was a firetruck and four firemen! First, they showed us how they put on gear and what gear they have. Then we got in a line and everyone got to go into the firetruck! It was so cool going into the firetruck because there was so much stuff that they use that was in the truck! They also said that the firetruck they brought was an Emergency  truck! And there is only two of them in New Zealand  I think.  Then they got the hose out and Whaea Megan got to use the hose! Then they said we had to go into a big line! Everyone rushed to get in line because we got to use the hose! Its was so fun meeting them I hope we meet them again!

Hello! Today I will be showing you my Matariki art I have done! We have done Matariki art on our Chromebook in google drawing!

We added a layered mountain like shape so it looked cooler that just one mountain. We also learn’t how to flip the shape over which was fun to use! I had coloured my background mountains and stars so they looked pretty! When I was finishing up I moved all the stars to the places they were in the Matariki!

Matariki!

Kia ora Bloggers today i will be showing you my Matariki Writing! Matariki is 9 stars that represent something! It also means a Maori New Year! The nine stars are.

Waiti -Connects us to freshwater. Waita -Connects us to the ocean. Waipunarangi -Connects us to the rain. Tupuanuku -Connects us to food that grows. Tupuarangi -Connects us to food. Ururangi -Connects us to the wind. Pohutukawa -Is the Oldest Child. Hiwa-i-te-rangi -Is the Youngest child. Matariki -Is the Oldest star.

Here is my Writing for you!

On Friday The 28th of June is Matariki! Matariki is a group of 9 stars! Or known as the seven sisters. Matariki is a Maori new year! Matariki is a public holiday and it’s the second year we celebrate Matariki! If you don’t see the stars it means bad luck so growing food may not go well, but if you do see them it means good luck.

Waiti -Connects us to rivers, lakes and freshwater.

Waita -Connects us to the ocean.

Waipunarangi -Connects us to the rain.

Tupuanuku -Connects us to food that grows in the ground.

Tupuarangi -Connects us to food. (Fruits, Berries and birds)

Ururangi -Connects us to the wind.

Pohutukawa -Is the Oldest one that represents our loved ones that have passed.

Hiwa-i-te-rangi -Is the Youngest child that represents people’s future.

Matariki -Is the Oldest star that represents well being.

On Friday (28th of June) I don’t think I’m going to really celebrate Matariki but I want to do Matariki crafts!

Topic Friction!

Kia Ora bloggers! Today i’m going to be blogging about what I did for topic last week! For topic last week we did some stuff about force and learnt about friction! Friction is when to objects rub against each other, force is when you would like pick up something light you dont need as much force, but then if your picking up something heavy then you would need more force to pick it up.

This was a really fun topic thing to learn about! It was also really fun to make. I made a slideshow but you were also aloud to make a video!

Here is the slide show I made.

Think before texting

Hello Bloggers! Today for Cyber smart we learned about how to text people more polite and how to me more nice to people while online. Make sure you re-read you texts so it doesn’t hurt the person your texting to! I think it’s important to think before we send messages because sending two words may seem rude and sending emoji that send a bit rude with the text is not good!

Here is one of the re-write photos I did!

Mean texting                                    Nicer texting

Hope you liked it! Hope you have a good day!

Byee!- Catalina
